Cathie Kuhl works as a private mediator/facilitator, specifically providing services to the Ohio Department of Education in the area of special needs under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act. She is a pro bono mediator and arbitrator for the Cincinnati Better Business Bureau (since 1985). She is an adjunct professor for the University of Cincinnati’s School of Law (since 2007), serving as co-faculty for the law school’s mediation course. She provides mediation training services for the Supreme Court of Ohio and has done so since 2006.
Cathie Kuhl has worked for over thirty years in the field of conflict resolution. Beginning in 1982, Ms. Kuhl began working as a consultant, trainer and program administrator for the Hamilton County Municipal Court’s mediation service, retiring as the director of that department in 2012. She has provided mediation and conflict resolution training services for other departments within the City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County, and other agencies in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana. Ms. Kuhl’s over 5,000 hours of mediation service includes family, business, criminal, civil, employment, special education and interpersonal disputes. She also spearheaded the development of new mediation projects throughout Hamilton County and facilitated working task forces in a variety of arenas including mediation networks on the state and local level, and professionals working to address issues of domestic violence and stalking victims. She is a founding member of the Mediation Council of Greater Cincinnati, Greater Cincinnati Coalition on Domestic Violence and the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council of Hamilton County. Her committee experience includes serving on three Ohio Supreme Court Committees: The Advisory Committee on Dispute Resolution, The Court Personnel Education and Training Committee and the Domestic Abuse Issues for Mediators Trainer’s Committee.

Ms. Kuhl holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Wright State University and has completed two years of graduate work in Antioch University’s Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution program. Additional training includes Harvard’s Program on Negotiation at Harvard University.
